Barnsdale Hall Hotel

Nr Oakham, RutlandEngland, UK, LE15 8AB,

Stayed here for the night of a family wedding. Our room was beautiful and finished to a high standard. We were very lucky and had a wonderful view from our balcony of the beautiful surroundings of Rutland water. You need not want for anything here as everything is provided for your comfort. Would thoroughly recommend it for your stay in the area if you want luxury and comfort.

We were here for a wedding, it's a beautiful place right next to the water. We were in a separate block from the hall but the room was fantastic with a view of the lake. I guess because it's such a large place with so many people staying the food felt slightly mass catered rather than restaurant standard. Otherwise it was lovely experience, I'd have liked to have had more time there.

Beautiful location and views. Reception staff very helpful. Disappointed with the quality of furniture which was very worn and mattress was worn coil sprung and noisy when turning over. The bedroom didn’t compliment the bathroom which was modern and nearly the size of the bedroom! Breakfast good. The whole experience was. Not worth £120 per night and wouldn’t command that on 4 in a bed.

Staff 10/10, rooms were a bit old 7/10 (bathroom was great), gym was too rusty and limited equipment. The restaurant had nice dishes and the waiters were the nicest. The pillows and mattresses were not great as I struggled sleeping. However, I am sure this will get better as the people there are willing to make your stay great.

Large sprawling complex with a lot of things to do onsite and nearby. The hotel itself is a bit tired and could do with a refresh. On its own it would have got 3 stars but the staff were great and bumped it up. They were friendly and helpful. Thanks

5 Reasons to stay at the Barnsdale Hall Hotel

1# Multiple Room Options

One of the great things about Barnsdale Hall Hotel is the variety of sleeping options.  There are 3 buildings to choose from, Barnsdale hall, Barnsdale lodges or Barnsdale Apartments. Each one offers style and comfort with a unique unforgettable experience.

The lodges were our absolute favourite situated on the bank with a lake view! Some are a pyramid shape and some have large upstairs balcony’s. Each one has everything you need for a self-catering holiday and has a contemporary look inside.

If you don’t like the idea of the lodges but still want a self-catering holiday then an alternative option is the Barnsdale Apartments. Built in the old stable mews they come in various sizes and have full kitchens. Inside is beautifully decorated.

The Barnsdale Hall is the oldest out of the three options and not as modern. However, it has the most character with traditional wooden beams and old staircases. With this option, you are staying within walls that hold 100’s of years worth of secrets. Each room has tea & coffee making facilities but no kitchens as you will need to dine in the hotel restaurant or off-site.

2# Breathtaking Views

Barnsdale Hall Hotel is situated high on the North edge of Rutland Water. The area has some of the most amazing views in the whole of Rutland offering breathtaking views of the whole lake!

Imagine waking up in the morning to nothing but a sea of green trees and blue water, like something from a fairy tale!

3# Years of History

The history at the Barnsdale Hall Hotel dates back to the 1890’s and even has Royal connections! It was built as a family hunting lodge for the sixth Earl Fitzwilliam. The area was a prime location for fox hunting, a very popular sport at the time.

Unfortunately, the hall fell into disrepair over the years. Due to the creation of the reservoir during the mid 70’s Rutland became a hotspot for tourists.

During the 1990s Barnsdale was then repaired and finally turned into a fine luxury hotel where over the years it has been extended.

4# Delicious Food

Enjoy fine dining here at the Barnsdale Hall Hotel with a taste of some of the best food in the area.

Well known for their award winning breakfast which comes with a choice of a full English, cereals, pastries and fruit juice.

Throughout the day you can choose from a selection of sandwiches, homemade cakes, afternoon tea and much more all made with fresh local produce.

Let’s not forget the most important one! Sunday here is Lunch to mouthwatering and served every Sunday throughout the year.

5# Dog-Friendly

Finally, don’t worry about those beloved furry friends, they can join in the fun here too!  The Barnsdale Hall offers certain rooms that are just for families with pets which means they can come along too!
