The Old Pheasant Hotel

15 Main Rd, Glaston, Oakham, Rutland, LE15 9BP

Only gave four stars as didnt try the food, but stopped off for a drink after a woodland walk with my dog. Owner and man behind the bar was very friendly. They went to the trouble of putting a shamrock design in our pints of guiness and brought out dog fresh water and doggy treats outside. Garden area was muxh fresher looking and very pleasant to sit in compared to last time we visited (about a year ago) I am thinking its under new management. Very nice and will visit again soon and maybe try the food 🙂

3 Reasons to stay at the The Old Pheasant Hotel

Welcome to The Old Pheasant Hotel located in the quaint countryside village of Glaston, Rutland. Glaston is one of the smaller villages in the county with a population of around 180. Interestingly in the year 2000, the village was part of a major archaeological dig.

#1 Home From Home

The Old Pheasant Hotel is one of those places that you can call ‘home’ as soon as you arrive. The welcoming atmosphere received from the local villagers make you feel like you are in your own local pub.

In addition to the warm and friendly atmosphere, there is a cosy log burning stove opposite the bar! This adds to the homely effect, you won’t want to step foot outside on those colder days.

#2 Great Home Cooked Food

Food at The Old Pheasant is bold, fresh and full of flavour. They use only seasonal veg from local farms, the new owners have everything to perfection. you won’t believe your dining in a small village pub!

One of the things that stood out to us was the presentation of the food, It’s like that from a 5-star restaurant. Also on the menu, you will find daily specials, light bites and bar snacks.

#3 Location

The Old Pheasant Hotel is in the perfect location. Smack bang in the centre of Rutland which means Uppingham, Oakham and Stamford are all easily accessible.

There are also two reservoirs within easy reach, Rutland Water and Eyebrook reservoir. Rutland water is the largest man-made lake in Europe and offers some fantastic sports!
